Blade and Soul NEO the modern remaster

By Ludwighench, 2025-04-23

The new video is a brief beginning whose subject Blade and Soul fans should recognize: Story of Lusung. This new short is an intro to a series that will continue. The team captioned the video like this: “Discover the alluring tale of the infamous Lusung in a new Blade and Soul NEO Classic Divine Gems Webtoon. Would you all like to see more Blade and Soul Webtoons? Let us know in the comments.”

This morning, the ability to create one pre-launch character and secure a name opened up to those who pre-downloaded, and as an exclusive in NCSoft’s official PURPLE platform.

If you have pre-registered to play the game via the platform,  and downloaded everything, you're ready to start things up, choose your race, one of the seven available classes, and then start customizing your character. One thing you should notice in Blade and Soul NEO  is an expanded character creator. There are many more options than you might expect in this modernized version of the classic MMORPG. If you played the original, then you'll notice the expanded options.

If you have a character on Blade and Soul live, you can use a character template from that character creator and export it. After you've done that successfully, you can then use the new character customization options to edit your character.

Regardless of whether you're starting from a template or completely from scratch, customize your character's face, including eyes, nose, mouth, facial markings or makeup, as well as hairstyle, arms and legs, body shape, and customize their voice. If you are not like me and can spend less than an hour in character creation, congratulations. Once you've made a decision on what your character will buy BnS Classic Divine Gems look and sound like, then you get to pick a name. You also get to pick a launch server.

Monetization: The devs managed to never utter the term “pay-to-win” during the discussion on monetization, but it seems very clear that they are not going down the pay-to-win route. The battlepass will not be a perfect copy of the original MMO’s subscription; instead, it will offer perks like consumables, buffs, remote warehouse access, and extra warehouse slots on the market. There won’t be a sub – just the pass, which is leveled through basic Blade and Soul NEO Classic Divine Gems gameplay.

At release, the game will just be on NCsoft’s proprietary Purple platform, but the developers are also exploring a possible future Steam launch too. Other platforms may be a possibility in the future. Global players can expect one North American server (located in the US) and one European server (most likely located in Germany). There are still two teams for the western version of Blade and Soul one for live and one for NEO. The devs stressed that the original version of the game will still be getting updates; it’s not being abandoned. The 0-20 upgrade system from live will not be present on NEO; in NEO, gear upgrading is about finding a perfect base weapon and upgrading it slowly over time through normal gameplay. PvP is a major focus of NEO, and in fact, there’s a new free-for-all PvP zone that sounds like a last-man-standing battle royale for a loot chest, though they didn’t use the term. The devs believe that most of the game’s PvP should be fine on a lower-end PC, as long as players turn down effects.

NCsoft has been touting infinite windwalking as another major feature of NEO, but it’s actually better than it sounded in earlier PR materials, as this version of the game basically dumps the stamina system that regulated sprinting and climbing too, not just gliding – which, the devs argue, “makes the whole experience of travel a lot more enjoyable.” cheap BnS NEO Divine Gems officially launches February 25th, but downloading begins for preregistered players today, hence this press blitz. The special character customization period begins February 18th. While the game will of course be free-to-play, there’s a preorder bundle on offer too.

When it was announced last year that Pearl Abyss America’s former CEO, Jeonghee “JJ” Jin was leaving the company she helped to build, I’ll admit I was pretty stunned. As the face of Pearl Abyss America, JJ made the company much more approachable, while also creating a culture that both celebrated its people as well as the players who make up cheap BnS NEO Classic Divine Gems the Adventurer’s in its flagship Black Desert Online.

We are not changing a lot of things for Blade and Soul NEO Classic Divine Gems . When we played Blade and Soul Neo here in the office, I think the dev team really wanted to make it work well for the global audience. So I think those were the learnings from our past experience. Unfortunately, some of our titles - or most of our titles - had a pay-to-win reputation. So there’s a big awareness now about that internally. I think even for the business models, the devs wanted to make sure this is better, this is going to be well accepted in the West. So we’re learning from our live service experience.

As a result of those internal playtests, JJ says her team didn’t think a lot of changes needed to be made, but that doesn’t mean that there won’t be changes made in the future as it heads towards launch. NC America doesn’t currently have a launch date set, but there are certainly some interesting features to look forward to, especially if you’ve played the original.

Blade and Soul Neo will feature remastered animations and graphics, boosting the visual quality thanks to a shift to Unreal Engine 4, while combat customization looks to be expanded versus the original. However, for many fans like myself who long for that fluid motion and gravity-defying traversal that helps to define the Wuxia experience, Infinite Windwalk will be available from the start. It’s exciting to think about, and hopefully, we won’t have too much longer to wait to get hands-on with the MMO when it comes to the West this year.

Despite it’s regional-sounding name, NC America isn’t handling just the Americas. The publishing arm will be responsible for regions such as Europe, both North and South America, as well as the Oceania, Australia and New Zealand markets. While the team might be based out of Irvine, California, that’s a tall task - again, something JJ seems uniquely equipped to help lead, having been in charge of much the same scope at Pearl Abyss America (though, it should be noted, PA has a European division that took care of things over there as well).

NC America will also have to work with cheap BnS NEO Divine Gems some partners who publish NCSOFT games in the West already, such as the aforementioned Amazon Games for Throne and Liberty, as well as a few European publishers with NCSOFT titles under their purview. However, it presents an interesting opportunity to truly grow those global ambitions NCSOFT has with its games, but it’s not going to be easy, especially as hardcore MMOs, especially legacy MMO brands like Lineage can be hard to get modern MMO fans to give the time of day.
