Monsoon weather is when fruit diseases move fastest, and it is also when sprays are most likely to be wasted. A contact fungicide spray for fruits sits on the surface, so heavy rain soon after spraying can wash it off and leave leaves, flowers and young fruit unprotected. Check the label for how long the product needs to dry or become rainfast, and plan sprays for a dry window of the day. If a downpour follows soon after, you may need to re-spray, but never exceed the number of sprays the label allows. Between rains, use the gaps to prune for airflow and remove fallen fruit and leaves. Alternate contact products with systemic ones, so you are not relying on a single mode of action. JU Bullet lists grapes with downy mildew at 800 g per acre, and JU Masaal lists grape, mango, apple and mandarin, but confirm your crop and disease on the label. Respect the waiting period before harvest, and wear gloves and a mask. Gramiti – A Trusted Place for Farmers, Ghaziabad 201001, ships across India. Call 9939979905 or email customercare@gramiti.com.
